A Quick and Easy Do It Yourself Firepit Surround

Add style and support to a freestanding firepit with an easy-to-make surround.

Father's Day Gift Guide

Add a little warmth and extra style to fall evenings by surrounding a freestanding firepit  (#27404) with OldCastle landscaping blocks (#182076).

Step 1: Find a suitable location for your firepit. Look a level spot with a fire-safe surface away from trees and buildings.

Step 2: Place the firepit screen on the ground and use it as a guide for OldCastle blocks (16 blocks per layer; 48 blocks total).

Step 3: Stack blocks to create three layers.

Step 4: Lower the firepit into the surround.

My Christmas present and our weekend project. Wife got the Garden Treasures 39" Black Steel Wood-Burning Fire Pit for me from Lowes for $100 (sale + coupon). Mother in-law got me a gift card for the bricks. Opted for the Oldcastle 12" Sand/Tan Castle Wall. Used 52 total for a cost about $120 (%10 off coupon). So for a total of about $220, and 2 hours of work, we got a large, awesome fire pit for the back yard. We used it for the first time last night, and love it! Hope you enjoy the picture.
