Box for Bling

Surprise someone special with a handmade jewelry box.

Step-by-Step
  1. Select two classic fencepost caps from the lumber department. Apply primer (#165217) and paint. Allow each coat to dry.

  2. Connect the two post caps by affixing a pair of 3/4- by 1-inch narrow brass hinges (#19484) to the back side of the box, per the manufacturer’s instructions. The hinges should be spaced about 2 inches apart.

  3. Attach a brass box catch (#42594) to the front side of the box, following the manufacturer’s instructions. Secure the upper portion of the catch flush with the box surface. Install the lower portion leaving a small space between it and the box. This will compensate for the curved edge of the post caps.

  4. Secure a piece of self-stick felt blanket (#67033) inside the box, and then add heavy-duty felt pads (#54064) to the bottom of the box.
