Wall Tapestry

Create and display a unique work of art.

Invite a few friends over for September’s Unwind & Design, and make one-of- a-kind wall tapestries—no sewing required! Your guests can personalize their artwork with a monogram or favorite pattern, using paint colors of their choice.

STEP-BY-STEP
  1. Step1Cut a piece of drop cloth to your desired size. (Ours is 14 x 20 inches.) With a handsaw, cut two dowel pieces to match the cloth’s width. Attach the finials to the dowels using the screws included, first drilling pilot holes with a bit that’s slightly smaller than the screws. Paint the assemblies; let dry.
  2. On each side of the drop cloth, fold in 1 inch of the material, and then iron to smooth. Using a glue gun, secure the hem. Paint a white or cream-colored basecoat on the front of the drop cloth, and allow to dry.
  3. CISO08UD_DSC_7007Lightly sketch your design on the drop cloth. Paint as desired, and let dry.
  4. CISO08UD_DSC_6999Fold the top and bottom ends of the drop cloth over the dowels, and use a glue gun to secure.
  5. CISO08UD_DSC_7021Tie jute twine to the top dowel for hanging.
Good To Know

If you use a hair dryer to speed up the paint-drying process, it should take approximately 5 to 10 minutes for each coat of paint to dry.

this sounds like a great project, but i am confused because the written list of materials seems to include extra things not mentioned in the video like duct tape and wood filler, and does not mention things in the video, like dowel rod and paint?
