Fall Leaves Wall Art

Create and display leaves that will stay colorful all year.

Leaf_Wall_Art_Sofa

Vinyl flashing cut in leaf shapes looks like the real thing right down to the subtle creases. Spray paint and easy-to-build frames complete the look.

INSTRUCTIONS:

Outlining_Leaf_Pattern

Step 1: Download our leaf patterns and cut out the leaf shape. Trace the outline of a leaf onto vinyl flashing using a permanent marker.

Marker_Leaf_Pattern

Step 2: Draw vein lines on the flashing. To create a crease down the middle of the leaf, place a ruler along the center vein and bend the flashing upward.

Step 3: Add more dimension and realism by using the short end of the ruler to crease the remaining vein lines and curl the edges. Spray paint a base color and let dry.

Step 4: Spray a second color over portions of the leaf to mimic natural shade variations. Let dry. Add a third color, if desired. While the leaf dries, assemble the frame.

Step 5: Cut the sides of the frame to desired length from 1"x3" pine, miter corners, and paint. Join pieces with glues and braces. Cut back panel to size from OSB and glue to frame.

Leaf_Glue_Gun

Step 6: Mount leaf in the frame. Cut a 2" length of poplar dowel, and use a glue gun to attach one end to the back of the leaf. Glue the other end of the dowel to the back panel.
