Artful Apron

Keep the budding artist’s area neat and organized.

Artful Apron

Step 1: Purchase a child’s tool apron (#51557). To create circle stamps for decorating the apron, choose several PVC elbows (from the plumbing department) in the desired size.

Step 2: Pour small amounts of paint into disposable containers. Dip the end of each PVC elbow into the paint, and lightly stamp it onto the apron’s pockets. Allow to dry.

Step 3: Cut off the apron strings, and then fold the apron horizontally to reduce the length.

Step 4: Affix a self-fastening strip (#65549) to the table, trimming to fit. Attach the corresponding strip to the upper edge of the folded apron. Join the two strips so that the tool apron hangs down from the table.

What a Great Idea: Cool School Storage
Organize your child’s supplies with this roll-up caddy.

Step One

Lay a child’s apron (#51557) face down on a flat work surface. Measure 9 inches from the bottom of the apron, draw a horizontal line, and cut along this line. Cut off one of the waist ties from the upper portion of the apron.

Step Two

Fold the cut edge down 1/2 inch, and use a hot-glue gun to create a seam.

Step Three

Use a hot-glue gun to attach one end of the waist tie directly below the seam on the right-hand side. Fold down the top edge another 1/2 inch over the secured tie, and glue to secure.

Step Four

To create smaller pockets inside the large pockets, use hot glue to create seams.

Step Five
Use hobby brushes (#105657) to paint the caddy as desired. We painted the entire caddy first with Valspar Ultra Premium, Cantaloupe Smile 2007-2A. Then we painted a ruler on one end and painted the small pockets with Oh So Red 1009-1, Sunny Dale 6002-6A, and Sea Seeker 5004-7C. Allow each coat to dry.

Step Six
Fill your caddy with school supplies, roll it up, and use the tie
to secure it.
