Galvanized Candle Lanterns

Decorate your patio with soft light by turning a standard metal rain cap into a pretty candle lantern in three simple steps.

Reminiscent of Danish ship lanterns, these galvanized candle lanterns stay lit on breezy nights and cast a soft glow to decks and patios. Make three or four to decorate any outdoor living space.

Step 1: Select a 3-inch galvanized rain cap (#36422) from the building materials department.

Step 2: Position a tea light or votive candle in the bottom of a clean jelly jar.

Step 3: Turn the rain cap upside and insert a juice glass into the cylinder. Use a fireplace match or longneck lighter to light the candle.

Good to Know: Instead of a juice glass, you can use a jelly jar or any small drinking glass.
