1. Create the frame assemblies and add the slats.

Figure 2
a. Using glue and pocket hole screws, build the end frame assemblies using the (01) end stiles, (02) end rails as shown in Figure 1.
b. Using glue and pocket hole screws, build the front and back frame assemblies using the (03) front/back stiles and (04) front/back rails as shown in Figure 1.
c. Position the end frame assemblies flush with the inside faces of the (05) legs, pocket holes facing out, and attach using glue and pocket hole screws as shown in Figure 2.
d. Position the front and back frame assemblies flush with the inside faces of the (05) legs, pocket holes facing out, and attach using glue and pocket hole screws as shown in Figure 2.
e. Check the assembly for square and attach temporary bracing if necessary to attain square.
f. Position the (06) cleats flush with the bottom edge of the (04) front/back rails and attach using glue and #18 x 1-inch wire brads.

2. Attach the slats, cladding, and trim.

a. Starting at the center of the assembly, position the (07) slats approximately 1/8-inch apart on the (06) cleats and attach using glue and 4d nails as shown in Figure 4.
b. Remove any temporary bracing added in Step 1e.
c. Measure the distance from the top and bottom of the (02) end rails and match this measurement with the length of the cladding parts in this step.
d. Test fit the (08) end cladding and adjust if necessary. Starting at the center of the end assembly, position the (08) end cladding pieces flush with the top of the (02) end rails and attach using glue and 1-inch wire brads as shown in Figure 5.
Figure 5 e. Starting at the center of the front and back assemblies, position the (09) front/back cladding flush with the top of the (04) front/back rails and attach using glue and 1-inch wire brads as shown in Figure 5.
f. Test fit the (10) trim cladding and adjust if necessary. Attach using glue and 1-inch wire brads as shown in Figure 5
g. Position the (11) side trim flush with the edges of the end of the assembly and attach using glue and 4d nails as shown in Figure 6.
h. Attach the (12) back trim using glue and 4d nails as shown in Figure 6.
i. Cut a 3 1/2-inch radius on one end of each (12) side ledge. Position the (13) side ledges flush with the outer edge of the (11) side trim and attach using glue and pocket hole screws.
j. Attach the (14) back ledge to the (12) back trim and (13) side ledges using glue and pocket hole screws.
k. Miter cut one end of the (15) end nosing, position the inside of the miter flush with the front end of the (11) side trim and attach to the (11) side trim using glue and 4d nails.
l. Miter cut one end of the (16) front nosing, and position it flush with the end of the (15) end nosing and attach to the (11) side trim and (15) end nosing using glue and 4d nails.

3. Attach the lid cleats, assemble the lids and add finishing touches.

a. Position the (17) end lid cleats flush with the top edge of the (02) end rails and attach using glue and 4d nails as shown in Figure 9.
b. Position the (18) back lid cleat flush with the top edge of the back (04) front/back rail and attach using glue and 4d nails as shown in Figure 9
c. Position the (19) center lid cleat centered on the (18) back lid cleat and front (04) front/back rail and attach using glue and pocket hole screws.
d. Position the ends of three (20) center lid slats flush and attach together using glue and pocket hole screws as shown in Figure 10. Repeat to create a second assembly.
e. Position the (21) end lid slats flush with the lid assembly and attach using glue and pocket hole screws as shown in Figure 10
f. Attach the (22) side lid nosing to the (21) end slats using glue and 4dnails as shown in Figure 10.
g. Position the (23) back lid nosing flush with the ends of the lid assembly and attach to the (22) side lid nosing using glue and 4d nails and to the lid assembly using 1 5/8-inch screws as shown in Figure 10.
h. Position the (24) front lid nosing flush with the edge of the lid assembly on the side without pocket holes and attach using glue and 4d nails as shown in Figure 10.
i. Attach the lid assemblies to the (12) back trim using hinges. Position the lid assemblies 1/8-inch from the (11) side trim.
i. Fill all holes, sand, and apply a finish as desired.
j. Attach nail-on furniture glides to the bottom of the legs.

Carmen,
The interior dimensions are largely determined by the lengths of parts 2 and 4. Part 2 measures 25 inches long and part 4 measures 47 inches long. Although it might be a bit of a squeeze for a 24-inch long/wide cushion, it should fit inside this box. Good luck with the project!
