Go Alfresco – Thanksgiving Entertaining Party

Thanksgiving is a celebration of the best things in life: family, friends, and good food. This year, get back to basics and focus on these simple pleasures. Take your celebration outdoors, where casual, practical entertaining is a perfect fit.

Tile a Table Runner – Paint 4-inch tiles (#23625) with berry red spray paint (#282290) and orange spray paint (#58008). Allow to dry. Run the tiles down the center of the table. Mix in natural, unpainted tiles for a checkerboard pattern. The tiles also can be used as trivets placed under hot dishes.

Arrange a Centerpiece – Line small wicker baskets (#201836) with plastic bags, and fill with fall plants and flowers. Apply red and orange spray paint to the branches, and finish the display with squash, pumpkins, and corn (#28880) around the base.

Wrap Up Napkins – For a twist on traditional napkin rings, roll a napkin around a fork and knife, and then wind a small strip of burlap (#194942; #119195) around the bundle. Secure with twine (#66510).

Make Cork Toppers – Select several small lampshade finials and ceiling fixture pull chains found in the lighting department. Secure to the top of each cork (#139535) with a dab of Liquid Nails (#239057). Allow adhesive to dry.

Use Shepherd Hooks – Fill hanging baskets (#148187) with colorful plants, and hang on shepherd hooks (#150011) staked in the ground.

Try a Fryer – Complete the Thanksgiving feast with a fried turkey. An oil-less infrared fryer (#276307) yields great taste with less mess than traditional fryers. Able to hold up to 16 pounds of meat, this 34-quart model features a stainless steel cooking chamber and a pullout grease tray.

Gather by the Fire – The cast-iron chiminea (#291623) has a strong foot base and comes with tools and a plastic cover. Arrange seating, such as these painted benches, at a safe distance from the fire.
