Create a handy project for carrying tools and supplies.

Cut and label the parts as needed, using the Cut List and Cutting Diagram as guides and adjusting for fit.

1 Assemble the bottom and ends.

a. Cut the (01) tote bottom.

b. To create the (02) ends, cut the 1 x 8 to 12 inches long.

c. Cut a 3/8-inch-deep x 3/4-inch-wide rabbet on each end of the (02) ends. Cut a 3/8- inch-deep x 3/4-inch-wide dado along the centerline.

d. Rip the (02) ends to 3 1/2 inches wide.

e. Using glue and box nails, attach the (02) ends to the (01) tote bottom as shown in Figure 1.

 

2 Add the sides.

a. Attach the (03) sides to the (02) ends with glue and finishing nails, and attach the (03) sides to the (01) tote bottom with glue and box nails as shown in Figure 2.

 

3 Add the handle and finishing touches.

a. Following the (04) handle layout in Figure 3, cut the (04) handle. Use a 1 1/2-inch bit for the ends of the hand hole.

b. Using a router with a 1/4-inch roundover bit, ease the edges marked in red in the Figure 3 layout.

c. Using glue and finishing nails, attach the (04) handle to the assembly as shown in Figure 3.

d. Fill all nail holes, sand, prime, and paint as desired.
